Obituary

FITCHBURG - Linda Lou (Johnson) Davis, age 80, of Fitchburg, WI passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025, at UW Hospital. She was born on May 26, 1944, in Rice Lake, WI, the daughter of Lyle and Catherine (Cooley) Johnson. She was the oldest of nine children.

As a child, Linda loved riding horses and spending time outdoors. Her love for being outside never faltered. Throughout the years she loved spending time on the water boating, taking hikes into the woods, and tending to her beautiful flowers. She had an amazing green thumb. She loved taking road trips to northern Wisconsin to spend time with family and friends. She enjoyed walks down State Street with a good cup of coffee in hand, watching people and visiting the lakes around beautiful Madison.

Linda loved being a mother to her three children, but after her children were grown, she went back to school. She earned her nursing diploma from Madison College and worked as an LPN for several area health facilities. Linda spent many years at St. Mary's Care Center, working with the elderly was her true calling.

She loved spending time with her family and loved them all without limits. Some of her favorite family activities included trips to the farmers market, traveling to northern Wisconsin, and taking rides with her grandchildren in her red Chrysler LeBaron convertible. Linda loved the companionship of her beloved pets and was skilled at training her dogs and spoiling them rotten. She loved hosting family gatherings, opening her home to anyone and no one ever left hungry after a wonderful home-cooked meal. Linda will be fondly remembered as a collector of crystal dishes and bear figurines, a lover of shopping, taking delight in beautiful flowers and tasty baked goods.

Linda will be dearly missed by her husband, Jeffrey; daughters, Melissa (Jason Sprecher) Plumley and Julie (Michelle Shelhamer) Visger; son, Scott (Brenda) Visger; sisters, Clois (David) Erickson, Vicky (John) King, Susan Higginbotham and Betty (Bob) Hesley; brothers, Tom Johnson, Dale (Marilyn) Johnson and Zean (Laura Cutsforth) Johnson; five wonderful grandchildren and seven beautiful great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Dennis Johnson.

In accordance with Linda's wishes, there will be no funeral service. The family will hold a private Celebration of Life gathering to remember Linda at a later date.

I am so sorry for your our loss. Praying for you and your family during this difficult time. I loved going over to Uncle Lyle and Aunt Jack"s house that was always full of kids. We had many good times when all of the Johnson Boys and their families would get together. Never a dull moment and the laughter was loud. Cousin Linda, you were a blessing to many and will be sadly.msswd. Love to All, Cousin Cyndi (Johnson) Goudge Uncle Marv & Auntie Alice's s Daughter
