Obituary
DEFOREST - Evelyn D. Stout, age 97, of DeForest, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on November 3, 1927, in Reedsburg, the daughter of Rudolph and Rose (Samuel) Schroeder.
Evelyn married Clarence “Ike” Stout on December 27, 1946, in Reedsburg. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Allen and Merita. She was employed in Reedsburg as a seamstress by National Sportswear and Seats. After moving to Madison, she worked until retirement at Goodyear in Sun Prairie. Evelyn was a faithful union member and proud to act as a union representative for her Goodyear co-workers.
She loved all Wisconsin sports, but especially the Packers and Badgers football. Gardening was always a part of her life and even after moving to Parkside, she still grew her own tomatoes and filled her sunroom with beautiful African violets.
Evelyn was always active and adventurous. In her younger years, she enjoyed snowmobiling, camping and fishing. Evelyn loved to travel, and there were annual Stout family road trips to points throughout the U.S. visiting family and friends. Especially cherished are the memories made visiting her sister, Betty, in Colorado.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Clarence Allen (Nancy) Stout Jr. and daughter, Merita (Larry) Sabroff; three grandchildren, Mark Sabroff, Kevin (Bobbie Jo) Sabroff and Matthew (Mary) Stout; seven great-grandchildren, Amanda (Arjun) Prathivadi, Tyler Sabroff, Austin Sabroff, Alyssa Sabroff, Paige Stout, Rachael Stout and Carter Stout; great-great-grandchild, Ava Prathivadi; and two sisters, Betty Lind and Alice Jearman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Stout; sister, Margaret Thomas; and six brothers, Alton, Andrew, Everett, Donald, Herman "Mike" and William "Billy" Schroeder.
