Obituary

FITCHBURG - Margaret A. “Peggy” Dukelow, age 70, of Fitchburg, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Kettle Park Senior Living. She was born on October 19, 1954, in Paterson, New Jersey, the daughter of William and Miriam (Siney) Brandt.

Peggy earned her Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration majoring in Marketing (minoring in Psychology) and graduating Magna Cum Laude from Florida State University where she met her husband, best friend and life-long love, Dave.  They were married shortly after their graduation on July 10, 1976.  In 1980, they settled in Fitchburg, Wisconsin, where they spent the rest of their lives. It was here that they planted their roots, raised two sons, Brian and Adam, and established life-long friendships that easily became their extended family. Family was the most important thing in Peggy’s life, and she enjoyed attending her husband’s and children’s sporting events, as well as just spending time with them. She loved going to UW Badgers sporting events, including football, basketball and hockey. Her and Dave also had fun traveling together, going on cruises in the Caribbean, or simply being on the beach usually in Naples, Florida.

In addition to raising her own family, Peggy worked as a preschool teacher at Christ Memorial Preschool almost 10 years, was a longtime member of The Church at Christ Memorial in Fitchburg and volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House.  Peggy also had a great group of close-knit friends known as “The Calendar Girls.”

The friendship, joy and fun she brought to her family and friends are immeasurable, and we are forever grateful for the time she shared with us.  Peggy is survived by her sons, Brian (Christy) Dukelow and Adam (Lesley) Dukelow; grandchildren, Grace Dukelow, and Cora, Vivian and Adeline Dukelow; sisters, Carol Brandt and Shirley (Dick) Campbell; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Dave Dukelow.

A funeral service will be held at THE CHURCH AT CHRIST MEMORIAL, 2833 Raritan Road, Fitchburg, at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2024, with the Rev. Jeff Meyer presiding.  Visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. A private burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery.

As Peggy always said “Love you to the moon and back.”

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be gifted in Peggy's name to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Madison or The Church at Christ Memorial, Fitchburg. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Peggy was such a dear. I met her through Kathy O'Connor & knew her to always be smiling, quick to joke, welcoming and just FUN to be around. Her energy was so warm and kind - truly a person everyone wanted to be around. Brian & Adam, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Our sympathy to Brian, Adam, and the Dukelow family. Words are inadequate to describe our dear friend. Her radiant spirit just made life more fun for those of us privileged to call her friend. We are so grateful for the times we had with her, and thank her for the laughter, love, and joy she brought into our lives. Although she has left our lives now, she will never leave our hearts. We were lucky enough to know Peggy and Duke (Dave) from our time playing softball with Roberts Construction. What was way beyond the ordinary, was the way you felt Duke (Dave) and Peggy bring you and your wife into the circle of friends. There was always a social gathering in the parking lot after the last game, and always dinner plans that Dave and Peggy planned. It was a joyous time of friends that became extended family. I've never met a couple that was so giving and had a way of taking strangers and making them into a tight knit group. Such a good memory from such good people. Mary and I miss them deeply and respect what great friends and people they were. Our deepest sympathies. Ken and Mary Van Bogaert

Peggy was a neighborhood friend and also the preschool teacher of my youngest son. She was always positive and helpful, loved by kids and adults. Later on she was a teacher at my grand kids’ daycare. Her love for kids was apparent. She will be missed. My condolences to the family.
