Obituary
COTTAGE GROVE - Marilyn Rose Klotzbach left this world on December 7, 2024, to reunite again with the love of her life, Warren.
Her light lives on in her daughter, Jennifer, who hopes she can be half the woman her mother was.
Marilyn was a giver and one tough lady. Despite contracting polio when she was just a baby and spending many months in an iron lung, she became a production supervisor and manager with Swiss Colony as well as The Wisconsin Cheeseman, spending many years on the floor, running packing, and several other duties. While at Cheeseman, she was asked to segue into a different role - that of property manager of a senior campus. Marilyn was a natural. She had a connection with her residents and they enjoyed spending time with her listening to the “oldies” and chatting. Marilyn retired in 2003 due to the effects of Post-Polio Sequelae (PPS) and continued to help loved ones and friends whenever and however she could. She was admired and loved by many and her Grace will be missed.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Jennifer; and sisters, Sharon, Joan, and Jean. She joins her mom, Frances, and dad, Warren; as well as her sisters, Charlotte and Betsy; and her brother, Bub, in Heaven. You know there’s a party going on!
Her family would like to thank the Nurses, CNAs, staff, and volunteers at Agrace HospiceCare. Their loving care during her stay is appreciated.
A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to The Polio Survivors Network (polionetwork.org) - a site near and dear to Marilyn’s heart as it not only houses the Encyclopedia of Polio and PPS, but also provides support and information to polio survivors, their families, caregivers, and healthcare providers. Post Polio affects 15 million polio survivors around the world, one million in America.
Polio - just a plane ride away. It’s not gone - make sure you and your loved ones are vaccinated.
