Madison - Richard F. Dunn, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at his home with his wife, Marty by his side. He was born in Portage, Wis., on January 12, 1939, to Walter and Laura Dunn.
Richard is survived by his wife, Marty; sons, Darren and John; grandchildren, Dawson, Chloe, Emma, Brooke and Evelyn; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Laura; brothers, Jack (Elaine) and Jim (Corinne); and sister, Janet (Jim) Dushek.
Richard was a member of Plumbers Union Local 75 for over 50 years. In 1984, Richard was working at the Byron, Ill., Nuclear Plant, and felt an odd pain in his back. He came back to Madison to go to the doctor, and they found a tumor on his spine. He was in surgery for 20 hours and was never able to return to plumbing.
Richard enjoyed bowling, fishing, gambling and spending time with his grandkids. He loved to play cards and played in a monthly Sheepshead game with Joe, Jim, Gerhard, Toby, Rob and Brad. Richard was very appreciative of Jim Miller for always coming to pick him up to take him to the different houses they would play cards at.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Dennis Catholic Church, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025, with Father Michael Tarigopula presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Friday.
