Obituary

Gloria Bergum, age 94, loving wife and mother, entered into eternal life on April 20, 2026.

Gloria was a woman of faith, strength, and determination. She loved her family generously, and to them it seemed like she could do anything she put her mind to. Sometimes she sought out challenges, such as when she moved to a new country to teach, but more often it was the way she faced daily tasks and trials, with simple practical acceptance of the work to be done and the intention to do it as best she could. She was a wonderful cook who liked to garden, swim, and dance. She had a playful sense of humor and was quick to laugh and appreciate the ridiculous.

Gloria lived fully, accepting joy and sorrow, challenge and hardship, with steady grace and a love of life, family, and God. She will be missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2026, and also at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Tuesday.

Eternal rest grant onto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.

Lots of wonderful Girl Scout memories, spent around campfires and kitchen tables at Brandenburg and Echo Valley camps. You were such a good mother, Gloria. Tina was lucky to have you involved in her scouting adventures and we leaders were lucky to have your company and great sense of humor. Rest in peace, my friend.
