Obituary

OREGON - Stanford Howard Bang, age 91, of Oregon, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Sienna Crest. He was born on January 11, 1933, in Montevideo, Minn., the son of Herman and Hansina (Mortenson) Bang.

Stanford graduated from Benson, Minn., High School in 1952. He worked for many years as a security guard for Brink’s, Inc.

Stanford was a faithful member of Bethel Lutheran Church. Singing in Bethel’s church choir was an important part of his life.

Stanford’s choices in personal transportation were often unusual, including a Chevrolet Corvair, an MGA sportscar, and a BMW motorcycle.

Stanford was all about family. He was a much beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews. He provided a welcoming presence to those who married into the family, enabling them to feel that they were members of the group. A nephew described him as a sweet man who will be missed. His endearing qualities endured until the end of his life - an employee of Sienna Crest, the assisted living facility where Stanford lived, said Stan’s caregivers loved him.

Stanford was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Stanley; brothers, Gordon (Betty), Ronald (Wilma) and Darrell (Margaret); and sisters, Muriel (Herbert) Vetter and Gladys (Frank) Nuwash. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 625 E. Netherwood St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday, January 10, 2025.

Stan was always cheerful at Bethel Choir rehearsal where I sang with him for 45 years. And always had a fun story to tell. I've missed him since he left and now he's home with his Savior.

Stan was a pleasure to work with at Brinks. I was there from 1987 thru 1990 and went on many pick ups with him. He often spoke of his beloved Barber Shop Quartet. Everyone at Brinks thought the world of Stan. He is definitely enjoying Heaven. I can think of no purer soul than his. I was blessed to have known him. Floyd May
