Obituary

REEDSBURG - Gary L. Marshall, age 81, of Reedsburg, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at UW Hospital and Clinics. He was born on January 12, 1943, in Richland Center, Wis., the son of LaVerne and Geraldine (Denman) Marshall.

Gary graduated from Richland Center High School. He married Lynda (Crary) Marshall on January 29, 1965, and always took good care of his wife. Gary worked as a Mechanical Supervisor at Oscar Mayer for many years until his retirement in 1995.

Gary was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of both Trout Unlimited and Duck Unlimited and taught hunting safety for many years. He was an Assistant Scout Master with The Boy Scouts for over 20 years. Gary was a jack of all trades: a skilled mechanic, electrician and welder.  He was a great gunsmith and built and checkered his own guns. He also enjoyed going to the casino with his wife, Lynda, trying his luck on lottery tickets and playing poker.

Gary loved family time together, especially with his grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes to make people laugh. Gary had many close friendships through the years. Most recently, he had a close connection with George, who was always checking in on him since his brother’s passing.

Gary is survived by his wife, Lynda; son, Doug (Dawn) Marshall; daughter, Pam (Charlie) Howell; three grandchildren, Samantha Olivares, Cordell (Danielle) Marshall and Brady Marshall; nieces and nephews, Brennan, Kelly, Megan, Mark, Eric and John; sister-in-law, Mary Crary; and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Marshall; and brother-in-law, Clyde Crary.

Per Gary's wishes, no celebration of life services will be held.  Special thanks to Gary's Corvette Club friends, poker player guys and Leon for their continued care and support. Thanks also to Dr. Lavin and Dr. Bennett, the ICU staff and other UW staff members.

While I haven't seen Gary in 20 years I still remember what a friendly and fun guy he was to be around. My heart goes out to everyone in his family.
