Roberto Carlos Aparicio

MADISON - Roberto Aparicio was born in Cosamaloapan, Mexico in 1979 to Dora Montalvo and Roberto E.  Aparicio. In his youth he grew up in the church, taking courses and studying the Bible. He felt very secure and at peace in his studies of the Bible and the community that he was a part of.

There was one day when his mother couldn’t make it to church to pray, and he made the decision at 8 years old to take his mother’s place and pray for her that day, demonstrating the love that he held for his mother and the importance that God held in his heart.

He excelled at school and was even awarded valedictorian of his senior class. He enjoyed playing baseball recreationally and spending time with his grandmother on her farm. He started working as a electro-mechanic at the age of 10, and with his earnings helped his mother and himself to move forward in life.

In 1999 at 19 years old, Papi made the decision to move to the United States, where he studied English at night at MATC for three years while working during the day.

Papi began to build a family in 2001 as his first daughter, Natalia, was born. His second daughter, Carla, was born in 2003. Since the day his daughters were born, he was undeniably the best father, doing everything with his daughters in mind.

Papi began a position as a low voltage technician in 2009 at Integral Building Systems, sharing the years with wonderful co-workers. He found joy and fulfillment in working with his hands, mostly doing electrical work on cars during his free time and sometimes you’d even find him beading bracelets at the dinner table. Every night he would be out in the garage with greasy hands and a new car, with a problem he would solve.

You would also oftentimes find Papi flying by on his Trek down the capital city paths in Madison, Wis. He would often bike with his daughter, Natalia, and outpace her every time.

He enjoyed playing baseball for over a decade on the Latino league of Madison. Most of all he loved being outside with his daughters fishing, hiking, throwing baseball, frisbee, biking, and even volleyball.

In 2020, he met Rosa Ruvalcaba and they married just a year later, finding love once again in each other.

In August of 2023, he was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. He found solace in time with his family and continued to work until he no longer could. He would oftentimes worry more about his daughters and mother more than his own wellbeing.

He enjoyed going on walks and getting fresh air during this time, he even biked up until August of 2024. Nothing compared to the joy that he expressed during these rides.

In September of 2024, he made the decision to stop treatment and join Hospice with Agrace, as his prognosis got more severe. He spent his time talking with his daughters, mother, and wife. He watched the World Series with his daughter and fiancé, and mostly read the Bible, finding peace with his life.

He passed on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at in the early hours of the morning surrounded by family, the day before Thanksgiving.

We’re more than grateful to have had him in our lives as a father, son, husband, and friend. He would make anyone smile with his jokes and positive attitude no matter the circumstance, his presence will be forever missed and never forgotten.

Roberto is predeceased by his father, Roberto E. Aparicio; grandmother, Costancia Andrade; and sister-in-law, Leticia Aparicio. He is survived by his mother, Dora Montalvo; daughters, Natalia Aparicio and Carla Aparicio; wife, Rosa Ruvalcaba; nephew, Eliezer Aparicio; niece, Evelyn Aparicio; and brother, Deyvis Aparicio.

There will be no formal service and his ashes will be returning home to Mexico with his mother, Dora. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
