Obituary

STOUGHTON - Donna Lee Johnson, age 77, of Stoughton, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024, at her home, Milestone Senior Living. She was born on December 20, 1946, in Madison, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Custer) Currie. She graduated from Central High School in 1964 and was an active member of the Central High reunion committee.

Donna was united in marriage to William Johnson on November 27, 1965, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Madison. She worked as a supervisor at WPS for over 20 years, retiring in 2008.

When Donna was younger, she played volleyball, loved swim in the Madison lakes and liked hanging out at the Nibble Nook. She loved to dance and roller skate and always had music playing. She was very artistic, making crafts throughout her whole life. She was fondly called the “glitter queen”- she had glitter everywhere. Donna was an avid lifelong reader and a huge movie buff, often citing movie quotes. She liked fantasy, dragons and fairies, and even had a dragon collection.

Donna made friends easily. She loved to travel. One of her favorite destinations was to Disney, taking many trips in her lifetime. She and Bill also loved traveling throughout the United States and abroad, and often visiting her sister, Diane in Florida. Donna loved hosting get-togethers, where memories and laughs were always shared. She was generous with her time and love. She would open her home during the holidays to people who didn't have a family or a place to go. She loved baking and did so her whole life and during the holidays she would make cookies for family to frost and decorate.

Most of all, Donna was very proud of her family and was her grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader. She was always present in their lives and loved attending their extracurricular activities.

Donna will be dearly missed by her husband, William; daughters, Tracey (Pat Bridge) Johnson and Dana (Justin) Stadler ; grandsons, Rhys (Erika Zablan) Whitehead and Gavin Stadler; granddaughter, Ava Stadler; brothers, James (Liz) Currie and William Currie; sisters, Diane (Allen) Wiggen and Mary Jo (Dan Rogers) Currie; lifelong friend, Carolyn Culp; nieces, Chris (Jason) Raffel, Renee (Shari) Roll-Currie, Dawn Johnson, Samantha (Luke) Fieweger and Shannon Currie; nephews, Ryan (Megan) Currie and Dan (Pam) Johnson; and brother-in-law, Davis (Cheryl) Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elizabeth; son, Guy Johnson; brother, Douglas Currie; and niece, Lisa Currie.

A celebration of life will be held at STOUGHTON VFW, 200 Veterans Road, Stoughton, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2024.

Donna was my boss at WPS when I worked there. She made going to work easier. She was always kind, considerate, and very thoughtful. You could talk to her about anything and she always understood you as a person, first. To her family, I am sorry for your loss. She was larger than life. May her memories, glitter and all, be with you at this difficult time. May her soul be at peace. ~ 🕊️☮️

Donna was my first boss at WPS. Funny she never let on that she was my neighbor. We had just moved in next to them and it took a couple weeks but I saw her outside and made the connection. She thought it was funny. She had a great sense of humor! Her and my husband had fun bantering back and forth. She was a great boss and neighbor. Our prayers go out to Bill and her family.
