Obituary

STOUGHTON - Ruby Crews was a loving, strong willed, creative woman who was quick to laugh. Born on May 30, 1930, in Richland Center, Wis., to Herbert and Hazel (Sawyer) Wallace, she relocated to Stoughton, Wis., with her husband and children, where she made her home.

Ruby touched the lives of many while working as a waitress, as a member of Western Koshkonong Lutheran Church, and accepting anyone who crossed her path as a friend worth knowing.

Ruby’s passing on November 17, 2024, will be mourned deeply by everyone who knew and loved her. She was extremely talented in her crafts and created beautiful articles in crocheting, sewing, and needlepoint. There was no crafting trend she was unwilling to tackle. Ruby could bake the tastiest desserts, and we are privileged to have all added a few extra pounds because of her. She embraced a passion for visiting her family and a vibrant spirit for traveling, but she could often be found sitting comfortably at her kitchen table laboring over a puzzle, playing cards, or challenging someone to her favorite game 'Fast Track."

Her competitive nature was unmatched, but oh so fun to watch, Like Ruby's bright personality, she brought color into the world as an avid floral gardener, blooming warmth and joy into everyone who encountered her, and never failing to brighten the room. Ruby has left a legacy that will live on for generations to come, inspiring those around her with her strength, determination, kindness, and unforgettable spirit.

Ruby is survived by her children, Duane (Suzie) Woodhouse, Gerald (Dee Dee) Woodhouse, Sheila (William) Woodhouse and Mark (Linda Bliss) Woodhouse; six siblings; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Hazel Wallace; daughter, Carol Woodhouse; son, Paul Woodhouse; grandson, Christopher Caravello; former husbands, Homer Woodhouse and John Crews; and eight siblings.
