Obituary

MIDDLETON - Carolyn J. (Forsmo) Denson, age 90, of Middleton, passed away on November 16, 2024, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, Wis. Born on December 1, 1933, in Madison, Wis., Carolyn was the only child of Sigurd and Laura Forsmo. She graduated from Middleton High School in 1951, where she met and later married her beloved husband, Dean “Don” Denson, on November 22, 1952.


Carolyn was a creative soul who found joy in knitting, quilting, and woodcarving. Her children and grandchildren cherished the many beautiful gifts she created for them, including sweaters, quilts, and ornaments. An active member of her community, Carolyn dedicated many years to volunteering, particularly with St. Luke’s Merry Mission group, making quilts, and assisting in the office at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed her time volunteering at the Middleton Senior Center. However, her greatest joy came from attending her grandchildren’s numerous sporting and dance events.


Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Don; their four children, Donald (Ben) (Margaret) Denson of San Marcos, Texas, Ron (Lynn) Denson of Middleton, Dena (Ray) Harter of Cross Plains, and Kirk (Rená) Denson of Middleton. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Hayden (Kendal) Denson, Haley Denson and Hanna Denson, Kelsey (Graham) Nugent and Aaron (Brittany) Harter; along with her great-grandchildren, Noah and Luca Harter.


A memorial service will be held at ST. LUKE’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 7337 Hubbard Ave., Middleton, at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024, with a luncheon to follow. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.


The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Julie and John Murray for their frequent visits during Carolyn’s final days, as well as the compassionate care provided by Agrace HospiceCare.

My Uncle Don and Aunt Carolyn were the brother and sister-in-law to my Mom. They are the last of that generation left. Aunt Carolyn was so funny and always had a snappy comeback from her. She was a great lady who helped with phone calls to her and Uncle Don. She had a great family she loved dearly. Bless the whole Denson family and may she Rest In Peace. Sharon Smith

I knew Don better than I knew Carolyn, but over the years, I did see both of them for medical care. And they were a great couple, but, just as importantly, wonderful individuals as well. So, I am sorry to learn that she is gone. And I do offer Don and all the children and grandchildren my sincere sympathy at this time of sorrow and loss.
