David Kaminski

MADISON - David George Kaminski, age 80, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital. He was born on June 21, 1944, in Reedsburg, Wis., the son of Joseph and Vera (Luther) Kaminski.

David graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School and later received his bachelor’s degree from University of Wisconsin - Madison.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1968 -1974.  In 1978, he married Kim (Wilson) Kaminski. They raised their family in Wisconsin Dells until 2012, when they relocated to Madison.

David enjoyed a long career as a self-employed hotel and restaurant owner and operator, developing the Polynesian into a major destination in Wisconsin Dells. His love for University of Wisconsin sports and the Chicago Cubs lives on through his family. In addition to enjoying movies and TV, he coached hockey, baseball, and basketball, and loved time spent with his children and grandchildren.

David is survived by his wife, Kim; daughter, Kathleen Kaminski; son, Kristoffer (Dana Rose) Kaminski; grandsons, Kameron and Weston; sisters, Mary Ellen Anderson and Jody Hirst; sister-in-law, Shirley Kaminski; mother-in-law, Lorraine Wilson; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fred Kaminski; brothers-in-law, Stan Anderson and David Hirst; and father-in-law, Roy Wilson.

A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, with the Rev. John Berg presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. A reception to honor David will be held at Craftsman Table and Tap, 6712 Frank Lloyd Wright Ave., Middleton, following the service.
