Obituary
MADISON - Eugene “Geno” Elmo Vial, age 74, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Anchor Communities. He was born on July 12, 1950, in Dodgeville, Wis., the son of Ernest and Lois (Thorison) Vial.
Geno graduated from Madison La Follette High School in 1968. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He owned and operated two area bars, Slammers and Vials Lake Edge Tavern. A people person, Geno could light up a room and make friends anywhere. He loved music and was always humming or whistling. He was a member of the Madison Boys Choir, and always enjoyed busting a note at karaoke. Geno was an excellent cook who was known for both his delicious creations and his great sense of humor.
Geno is survived by his daughters, Kristi (Rob) Myrland and Alex Vial; grandchildren, Antonio, Austin and Hannah; sister, Vickie Williams; brother, Terry Vial; close friend, Steve (Dawn) Kundert; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gary and Rick Vial; and sister, Sheila Scheder.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2024. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of the service on Thursday.
The family would like to thank Bristol Hospice for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gary Sinise (Lt. Dan) Foundation, honoring vets in their time of need. Also, raise your glass to Geno; we know he is looking down, shaking his head, and having one with us.
