COTTAGE GROVE - Patricia Louise “Patti” Raether, age 83, of Cottage Grove, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 8, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 8, 1941, in Madison, the daughter of George Nyland and Marie (Terasa) Wollin.
Patti graduated from East High School in 1959. She married Jerry Raether on October 6, 1962.
Patti worked as a hostess for Ella’s Deli in Madison for many years. She loved the interaction with all the wonderful people and co-workers. Patti loved her pet Lilly, flowers, and watching all the wildlife out her kitchen window. She loved her times in Hawaii, Mexico, and second home in Florida.
Patti’s love for her family and friends reflected in her amazing parties she would host, from the detailed décor to the decadent food she would share with everyone.
Patti is survived by her husband, Jerry; daughter, Cheryl (Rodney) Nellen; son, Gregg; grandchildren, Marissa Nellen, Tanya Raether, Zack and Kayla Raether; great-grandchildren, Austin, Brantley, Lylah and Alora; brother and sister-in-law, Al and Luann Bennin; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jeff Raether; grandson, Trevor Nellen; great-grandson, Zackery Raether Jr.; and siblings, Kenneth, Barbara, Richard and Dorothy.
The family wants to thank Bristol Hospice and McFarland Villa for all their wonderful care and support.
Patti will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 12 noon on Friday, November 15, 2024. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens.
