Obituary
STOUGHTON - Joyce Agnes Tikalsky passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. She was born to Rudolph and Rose (Meyers) Tikalsy at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, Wis., on St. Agnes day in 1949. Joyce grew up in Mount Morris, Ill., where she graduated from high school, and later graduated from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Ill. She later earned a master’s degree in Technical Communication from Drexel University.
Joyce married John Hallinan in 1980. They had a son, Daniel, in 1982, and moved to Stoughton in 1983. Joyce loved science and technology, and being an early adopter of new technology. After working for a number of technical firms as a technical writer and editor in the Madison area, she taught herself web design and became the webmaster for the UW-Madison College of Engineering.
After retirement she taught classes at the Stoughton Senior Center in using cell phones, tablets and computers, as well as conducting one-on-one assistance with many area seniors. She also served a term on Stoughton's City Council.
Joyce is survived by her husband, John Hallinan; son, Daniel Hallinan; and grandson, Antonio Hallinan. She is also survived by her sister, Adice Forys; brother, Jerome Tikalsky; as well as many nieces and nephews.
