Obituary
CROSS PLAINS - Shirley Ann Hellenbrand, age 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.
Shirley was born on January 7, 1933, in Verona, Wis., the daughter of Otto and Nellie (Bryan) Paradise Sr. She grew up on the family farm in Verona and often talked about the love she had for the horses that worked the fields.
On October 6, 1951, Shirley married Charles “Carl” Hellenbrand. Shirley and Carl lived in Cross Plains where they raised their six sons. Shirley was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. She was a kind soul who would help anyone in need. Later in life, Shirley was employed and retired at Plastic Ingenuity. Shirley was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making meals and baking desserts, especially birthday cakes, playing a good game of euchre, but most of all she loved spending time with family.
Shirley will be missed dearly by her family, children, Thomas (Patti Woodman) Hellenbrand, Paul (Sandy) Hellenbrand, Kenneth (Beth) Hellenbrand, Gregory (Sherri) Hellenbrand and Scott Hellenbrand; daughter-in-law, Linda Hellenbrand; seven grandchildren, Dr. Nicholas (Dani) Hellenbrand, Dedra (Jeff) Matcha, Dr. Alisha (Max) Feutz, Jayme Hellenbrand, Grant Hellenbrand, Chandler (Erika Mueller) Hellenbrand and Carter (Amalah Hjort) Hellenbrand; great-grandchildren, Eliza and Jacob Matcha; sister-in-law, Rita Hellenbrand; as well as many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; son, Michael; parents, Otto and Nellie Paradise; sisters, Rachel Kalscheur and Marguerite Schewe; and brother, Otto Paradise Jr.
Our family would like to acknowledge our brother Scott for the wonderful care he provided mom for many years. Mom, you did an amazing job raising six boys, we love you and we will miss you dearly.
