Obituary

SUN PRAIRIE - Alvin Oriel Starck, age 94, of Sun Prairie, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Sun Prairie Senior Center. He was born on April 23, 1930, in Madison, Wis., the son of Oriel and Emily (Jones) Starck.

Alvin was a graduate of Madison Central High School, where he played basketball. He continued to play ball while enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War. On May 8, 1954, he married Joanne (Shaul) Starck in Deerfield, who he’d met at the Kollege Klub. Together they raised their family while he spent many years driving semi-trucks.

When his children were younger, Alvin enjoyed taking his family to the Big Sky Drive-In movie theater on Sundays. Every year, he loved to rent a cabin and fish with his family. Alvin also liked playing pool and was in two leagues. His family cherished Alvin and will miss him dearly.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Joanne; sons, Michael Starck, Dan (Elaine) Starck and Joe Starck; daughter, Constance "Connie" (Jerry) Endres; grandchildren, Christy Endres, Shawn (Meghan) Endres, Lee (Adrianna) Starck and Sara (Charlie) Raethke; great-grandchildren, Mateo Rodriguez, Henry Starck and Sawyer Starck; and his precious kitty, Tanker. He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Linda Starck.

Our deepest condolences to you Joanne and family. I will always remember when you all would come to the farm for a visit or when we would just get together. Sincerely, Janet (Storlie) & Dave Amacher

Sending my prayers and sympathy to Al's family. He was a great man and great pool player. Al and I partnered up for the Tully's mixed doubles tournaments at the suggestion of Tully's owner, Russell. We played many years together, racking up quite a few trophies for first or second place. RIP partner, Joyce 😥
