Obituary

McFARLAND / MONONA - Rebecca Ann (Dugan) Bazan, age 73, died tragically on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Becky was born on September 15, 1951, to Eugene and Dorothy Dugan. She graduated Monona Grove High School in 1969.

In 1971, Becky married Max Bazan with whom she raised three children in McFarland, Wis. Throughout her life, she worked at the UW School of Pharmacy, as a bank teller and provided in-home daycare for many years. She loved crafting, cross stitching, sewing, and made clothes, curtains, blankets and Halloween costumes for her kids. Becky was known for her hand-made Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. She enjoyed cooking and playing card games with friends and family, especially the card game war. She was fond of a good word search puzzle paired with a Diet Pepsi and popcorn, or a Hershey chocolate bar!

Anyone that knew Becky knows that she loved and lived life on her own terms. However, when she could no longer care for herself, she was fortunate to have her beloved son, Bryan, represent her through the challenges that dementia can often bring. He remained her strongest advocate as she entered assisted living in her later years.

Becky is survived by her son, Bryan, his wife Janel, and their son Jon (fiancée Becca Sondrol); daughter, Angela, and her daughter Avery; daughter, Amy, and her daughters Maddie and Bella.

Becky is further survived by her siblings, Dan (Carol) Dugan and Donna (Kendall) Uphoff; brother-in-law, Ken Berg; sister-in-law, Char Dugan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Pat and Todd; sister, Jane Berg; niece, Lori Berg; and nephew, Khamon Uphoff.

For anyone caring for those who cannot care for themselves it can be the opportunity of a lifetime to form a bond with them, as you hear stories of their youth, tales of their dreams and wishes for their future. To neglect that person or denigrate the last stage of life is unimaginable. Becky's family will continue to make sure her voice is heard even in death and will not let it be silenced until the justice she deserves has been delivered.

Becky's family would like to thank the Fort Atkinson Fire, Paramedics and EMS for their compassionate care and response, the Jefferson County Medical Examiner and Lt. Vanessa Leonard of the Town of Oakland Police Department for their efforts in providing answers to questions that could have been left unanswered.

"And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."

A private service will be held at a later date.
