Delavan / EDGERTON - Steven Charles Ahlstrom, age 78, of Delavan, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the Madison VA Hospital. He was born on March 4, 1946, in Delta, Utah, the son of Charles Harland and Hester (Henderson) Ahlstrom. Steven married Barbara Jean Searle on March 15, 1968, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Steven served in the U.S. Army, becoming an Army Medic after basic training. He served 15 ½ years of active duty and took pride in his military services. He was medically discharged from the military. Steven earned his associate degree and was planning to teach elementary education. Instead of teaching, he used his medical skills from the U.S. Army for work as a medical transcriptionist, a career he retired from in 2015.
Steven loved woodworking and making homemade Christmas presents for all his children. He would make the gifts, and Jean would paint them. He also really enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, especially the Green Bay Packers and the Brewers. Steven also enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He loved playing cards, bingo, trivia, or just spending time talking. He enjoyed listening to and just being around music. He would often attend live performances of The Palmyra Eagle Community Band. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the church in many roles. His favorite way to serve was teaching the young children in Primary. He also enjoyed working at the Chicago Temple.
