Obituary

STOUGHTON - John Edwin Broughton, age 67, of Stoughton, passed away peacefully at home, on Sunday, October 13, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 27, 1957, in Stoughton, the son of Fay and Joan (Leikness) Broughton.


John graduated from Stoughton High School in 1975.  He joined the U.S. Navy and worked as an Aircraft Mechanic until his honorable discharge in 1981. John began working in the printing department at American Family Insurance as a Senior Press Operator for 42 years, retiring in April of 2022.  


John enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandbabies.  He enjoyed reminiscing about the “Good ol days.”


John is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Levi) Bingham and Valerie (Joe) Seefeldt; and their mother, Denise Seamonson; grandchildren, Keylie and Jaxson, and Carly; siblings, Barb Ramsden, Donald Broughton and Lisa Skoien; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fay and Joan.


A celebration of life will be held at VFW POST 328, 200 Veterans Road, Stoughton, from 12 noon until 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2024, with military honor’s being conducted at 3p.m.
 

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. John said no child should ever go through what he went through with his cancer journey.

My heartfelt sympathy to all the family. John was my neighbor for many years and he was such a happy father the day both Jen and Val were born. I enjoyed many conversations, camping trips, grill outs and even a few beers with him. Fly high my friend.
