Obituary
LODI - Karol Irene Kaether, age 83, passed away peacefully at Dove Healthcare, Lodi, on January 2, 2025.
Born on February 7, 1941, at the same site of her passing, Karol (with a K she would always state) was the daughter of the late Ewald and Irene (Wiatrok) Kaether. She grew up living in Dane, Wisconsin, walking to country school as a small child then attended Lodi High School, graduating in 1959.
She raised her family in McFarland, Wisconsin until 1987, then moved to Madison and worked for the Wisconsin DOT until 2008.
She enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, shopping, going out to eat, traveling and especially loved her time with her sister-in-law and close friend, Barbara Peterson. They referred to one another as “my partner in crime”. She loved spoiling her granddaughters and was generous and thoughtful with everyone she knew and additionally donated to so many charities throughout her life.
She is survived by her children, Dawn Wild (Mark) and Mark Peterson (Tina), her granddaughters, Mariah, Kimberly, Alyssa and Brooke and her brother, Paul Kaether.
Karol was preceded in death by her parents, Ewald and Irene and special friend /sister-in-law, Barbara Peterson.
Per her wishes, no service will be held, but we ask that you spend time sharing special memories of Karol with each other, be with those who are important in your life and remember to say “I love you” often, even in the most difficult times. “Remember that you were given this life because you were strong enough to live it.” - Unknown.
Her daughter, Dawn, would like to personally thank all the staff at Dove Healthcare in Lodi for welcoming Karol “home”, making this a full circle of life (in her words), for embracing her German stubbornness with humor and for always taking care of her with dignity. Additionally, a thank you to everyone at Agrace for guiding us through her final days, focusing on her comfort, both mentally and physically, when life became such a difficult battle to fight any longer.
In lieu of flowers and cards, a donation may be made in her honor to Agrace Hospice of Madison or the charity of your choice.
