Obituary

SUN PRAIRIE - Robert G. Rauch, age 69, of Sun Prairie, Wis., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, at UW Hospital. He was born on Oct. 12, 1954, the son of George M. Rauch and Kathleen A. Phillips. Bob graduated from Edgewood High School, class of 1972, and went on to attend Madison College.

Bob started his career in 1976 at Cuna Mutual Group and rose to National Account Vice President during his time there. Bob left Cuna Mutual after 23 years of service and went to work for SWBC. Bob worked as a Financial Advisor during the final years of his career, retiring in 2012.

Bob married Anita (Copenhefer) Larson on Jan. 4, 2003, a month before Anita donated her kidney to Bob. Bob would joke that he and Anita were truly joined at the hip. They spent 18 wonderful years at their summer home on Lake Camelot, sharing many good times with family and friends. They have enjoyed many loving and happy years together raising their children, spending winters in their Florida home and traveling. Being a grandpa was the highlight of Bob’s life.

Bob is survived by his wife, Anita; children, Brandon (Darci) Rauch, Ryan (Ashley Robinson) Larson, Rachel Larson and Marisa (Kyle) Horning; infant twin grandsons, Levi and Carson Rauch; granddaughter, Everly Larson; stepparents, Phyllis Rauch and William Phillips; siblings, Ruth Ann (Rob Gannon) Weber, Randy Rauch and Rick (Lyndsay) Rauch; brothers-in-law, Thomas (Kathy Moore) Packard, Donald (Roberta) Copenhefer, Randy (Dianne) Copenhefer and Harold (Alma) Copenhefer; father and mother-in-law, Jimmie and Priscilla Hollis; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rae Ellen Packard; and brothers-in-law, Thomas W. Weber Sr. and Merritt Copenhefer.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, at 11 a.m. at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, with Father Thomas Kelley presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be gifted in Bob’s name to the Organ Transplant Unit at UW Hospital. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

My deepest sympathy to my dearest friend, Anita, and her family. Bob was such a caring, happy, and friendly person. He had an infectious laugh and shared great life experience stories. Anita always said Bob was her soulmate, and I will always remember him as a kind soul. Some of my fondest memories of Bob were at Lake Camelot, especially during the annual frolic, our time in Key West, and most recently in Cape Coral. I will truly miss Bob.

I met Bob at Cuna Mutual where we both worked. He always had a smile and was friendly to Everyone. About 3 weeks ago Bill and I had a wonderful dinner at Anita and Bobs beautiful home. He will be greatly missed by his Family & Friends.

Though our time together spanned just around three years, we feel as if shared a lifetime of moments with Bob and Anita. His smile and heart-warming eyes have left an indelible mark on our hearts. The conversations we had were filled with laughter, wisdom and warmth - will echo in our memories for a long time. Here's to Bob, a beautiful soul who brightened our lives and many others - Cheers!
