I didn't know Thomas personally but I knew his mother Maggie quite well and met his dad Phil at many art events in Madison. Maggie was a delight to work with. She took my painting class at UW Madison for several years and it was always a treat to see her walk through the door with her lovely paintings. Maggie had a wonderful sense of humor and a wonderful sense of fun and I'll always associate her with the class I taught for so many years. My condolences to Phil and the Lottes family on the loss of your son, husband, and brother.

To Becky, Bailey and Bret. I wish I could be there and give you each a hug and let you know how sorry I am. I think about you all, all the time including my best friend and brother, your husband and father Tom. There are so many regrets I have and not being able to come back and see you all at this heart wrenching time now tops the list. I haven't stopped sobbing since Pat called and gave me this awful news. Just know that I love you all and think of you often. I couldn't have asked for a better friend than Tom. He never doubted me and always stood by me threw the good and the bad. Having that kind of loyalty from a person is a rare wonderful thing. I didn't always deserve this. but I'll always be eternally grateful, and feel fortunate beyond my ability to put into words that Tom bestowed his friendship to me. He was a great man, husband, father and to me friend and brother. I miss him dearly as I miss all of you. Sorry for any misspelled words. It's hard to see threw all of my tears. All of my love. Steven R. Stanek. Aka. Steve.
