Obituary
FITCHBURG - Dennis Lynn Brager, age 79, of Fitchburg, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on Jan. 4, 1945, in Dodgeville, Wis., the son of Otto and Catherine (Thousand) Brager.
Dennis grew up in Mount Horeb and was proud of his Norwegian heritage. He received his amateur radio license (K9ZYU) in 1960, and it remained a lifetime hobby. He graduated from Mount Horeb High School in 1963 and enjoyed many reunions with classmates. Dennis attended UW, then joined the National Guard and served as a Radio Operator with the 826th Ordnance Company in Vietnam. After returning, he worked for Carnes Company in Verona for 42 years, working as a product manager, traveling the U.S. and Canada.
Dennis was an ardent Badgers Football fan, a season ticket holder for many years, and was happy to have attended 26 of the last 29 Bowl games and numerous other away games. Sitting outside during warm weather with a cold beer, a beautiful yard, loving dogs wandering around and a football game on tv were some of his favorite things. He also loved traveling, having been to all 50 states and every Canadian province, as well as many European cities, Australia, Jamaica, Japan and China.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda; sons, Michael (Candi) Alexander and Matthew (Sheri) Alexander; grandsons, Ben and Zavier Alexander; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Beverly; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A remembrance service will be held at TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 1123 Vilas Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024. An open house/visitation will immediately follow at the Bragers’ home from 12 noon until 3 p.m. Badger tailgate attire appropriate.
