Obituary

STOUGHTON - Nadine Miller, age 90, of Stoughton, Wis., passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024.  She was born in Mulberry Grove, Ill., on Sept. 7, 1934, to Granvil and Lura (English) Ellsworth.  After graduating high school, she married Junior Crane.  They settled in Mulberry Grove and had three girls.  Junior was tragically taken from them when the girls were ages 5, 3 and 1 year old. With three small children to raise, Nadine leaned on her faith, family and friends.  Being a strong Christian woman was never more evident than during this difficult time. She was able to make a good life with her children in Mulberry Grove.  She was surrounded by a strong supportive family with God at the center of their lives.

On March 17, 1973, Nadine married Glenn Miller, and they moved to Stoughton, Wis., and they joined Westwood Christian church. They enjoyed many years of happiness.  Together they traveled in their motor home and for a few years made an annual trip to Brownsville, Texas.   Nadine enjoyed flying with Glenn, as he was a pilot.  She was a very talented seamstress as evidenced by the fact that she made nearly all of the girls’ clothes as they were growing up.  She continued sewing for them by making wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses as they married.  She also enjoyed stitching, crocheting and hardanger.  Over the years, Nadine had cooking skills that she used in a job at the school where the girls were attending and volunteering her summer to cook at Christian camp in Mulberry Grove.

Nadine retired from Stoughton Utilities after many years of service. She made many lifelong friends from this employment.  After retirement, she was a wonderful caregiver to her mother until the time of her death. She also cared for her husband during his later years, allowing him to remain in their home until he passed away.  She has always been a great role model in her life, sharing her faith freely and nurturing others as she saw a need.

Nadine was predeceased by her parents; her husbands; siblings, Ronald Dean Ellsworth and Patricia (Charles) Gall; sons-in-law, Rex Nicholson and Bruce Parent; infant granddaughter, Kate Lyn Johnson; grandson, Michael Nicholson; and very dear friend and sister-in-law, Sandra Miller.

Surviving are her daughters, Beth (Larry) Johnson, Jeri (Sam) Duerst, Janet Anderson, Judy Nicolson, Julia (Paul) Edler and Katherine Parent; grandchildren, Erik Rod, Tammy Nicholson, James (Julie) Nicholson, Kasey (Kristen) Parent, Lyndsey (Eric) Niebuhr, Ryan (Katie) Duerst, Kyle (Nicky) Duerst, Kevin (Brittany) Duerst, Sarah (Jamie) Sickles, Daniel (Kayla) Johnson and Tyson Anderson; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by many nephews, niece and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, with Adam Tomlinson presiding. Burial will follow at Lutheran South Cemetery in Stoughton. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
