Obituary

MADISON - James "Jim" Bormann, age 64, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sept. 6, 2024. He was born in Madison, Wis., to Robert and Virginia Bormann.

Jim graduated from LaFollette High School in 1978. He married Debbie in May of 1984 and together they welcomed two great children, Casey and Chelsey. Jim retired from his nearly 40-year career in the bindery at Webcrafters in 2019 and took a part-time job at Atlantis Valley Foods shortly after where he found great joy in his work.

As a lover of the outdoors, Jim enjoyed taking nature walks with his wife, enjoyed fishing and hunting with his children and son-in-law on the family farm in Daleyville and riding his mini-bike with his granddaughter. He took great pride in teaching his children how to successfully hunt and fish and appreciated this time with them.

We are thankful that he was able to spend the last three years with his beautiful granddaughters. He was a wonderful grandpa and Bindi and Elli were the light of his life. They were his entertainment and brought out the fun and silly kid in him.

Jim loved watching westerns and Judge Judy. He spent many hours with his next-door neighbor providing companionship and home maintenance so he could continue to live in his own home

Jim would entertain his family and friends with his animated story telling and playful sense of humor. His spirit will live on in the love, laughter and cherished memories of his family.

Jim leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Debbie; son, Casey (Rosemarie) and granddaughters, Bindi and Elli; daughter, Chelsey (Aaron) and his grand-puppies, Roscoe, Tidda and Ute; sisters, Bobbie and Kathie; and nieces, nephews, as well as numerous other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Bormann and Virginia Dolphin; step-dad, Mike Dolphin; sisters, Bonnie and Sandra; brother, Butch; and grandparents, Orville and Angela Krause.

A celebration of life will be held at THE EAST SIDE CLUB, 3735 Monona Drive, Madison, from 12 noon until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024. In Jim’s honor, please wear your favorite outdoor gear.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be gifted in Jim's name to The River Food Pantry in Madison (www.riverfoodpantry.org) or Take ‘Em Outdoors (www.takeemoutdoors.org/donate), an organization that helps terminally ill children and wounded veterans enjoy the outdoors.

Jimmy was a childhood neighbor of mine, I called him Dimert (sp?). We were pretty much inseparable when I was about 4 years old. I always wondered how His life ended up, it sounds like he had a wonderful life, I’m so glad to hear this. I’m so sorry for your loss.
