Obituary

BARABOO - Sean J. Mick, age 38, of Baraboo, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 5, 2024, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., as a result of complications from surgery.

He was born in Madison, Wis. on July 3, 1986, to Jim and Sue Mick. Sean graduated from Waunakee High School in 2004 and went on to work in food service, most recently at Sauk Prairie Hospital.

Sean met the love of his life, Kim Hoffman, in 2008 and they married in 2013. One of Sean’s greatest dreams was realized when son, Arlo, was born in 2016, followed by daughter Pearl in 2018. He loved video games, the Packers, the Brewers, house projects, playing with his kids, animals, thunderstorms, and his family.

Sean will be remembered for his infectious smile, outgoing personality, kindness, and the unending love he had for his family and friends. He never ended a conversation without saying “I love you” and for that we are forever grateful.

Sean is deeply loved and will be missed dearly by his beloved and loving wife, Kim and their children, Arlo and Pearl; parents, Jim and Sue Mick; sister, Cristin Colvin; and nieces, Leah and Hailey; in-laws, Terry and Ann Hoffman; grandmothers, Anita Jacobson and Carol Nelson; and many other family and friends.

There is a hole in our lives that will never be filled. We will love you forever and ever and will keep you with us always.

A public visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. As a huge sports fan, Sean would encourage everyone to wear their favorite Wisconsin team gear. A private service will be held for family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mick Family Fund that has been established through Summit Credit Union to support his wife and children. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I went to a highschool dance with Sean and friends. I remember Sean chose to dress in the best fashion, a leprechaun costume. I remember him always being so kind. Maya Angelo said it best. People don't remember what you said or what you did, they remember how you made them feel. I remember Sean as kind.

We took Sean on vacation to Badlands, Wyoming, and Idaho in 2003 where we visited landmarks, did white water rafting, and horseback riding. When we were horseback riding, Sean’s horse decided to lay down in a bush on the side of a hill. Sean confused asked if this was normal and what to do. We said no not really and to jump off. Sean was fine and switched horses with Jeff ending the ride without incident. Although we all laughed about it later, I bet Sean never rode a horse again.

I spent almost 5 years working with Sean and I will always remember him as a kind and loving soul. He always knew how to land a joke and I would always look forward to shifts with him. Sean will be missed so deeply at Sauk Prairie Hospital and everywhere else.
