Dear Chris, Your Heart & Soul was so pure. You showed real genuine love to everyone around you. We Joked, we laughed, we had disagreements, we Cried (Well I Cried YOU LISTENED). When I came to East High school as a freshman we instantly clicked, you were like my school dad. You made me feel welcomed. You encouraged me to do my best in life and academically. You don’t know you saved me Chris. I went through so much at home struggling with being an only child who was moved away from all her family in Chicago to start a new life in Wisconsin with my mom and her husband, but Chris you became my family in such short time. You became a special person in my life. I will always love and cherish every memory we had together. I love you Chris. I want you to get the most peaceful rest EVER. Job Well Done, you definitely served you purpose in this world. “BALL IN PARADISE, LEGENDS NEVER DIE” 🥺🫶🏼 -Caniya Johnson

Woke up this morning hearing some very sad news! One of Madison’s most influential youth mentors and coaches has passed way before his time!! Chris Davis Sr was head strong, driven, ruthless when it came to his son Chris Davis Jr, stubborn, fearless, dedicated, powerful and unstoppable all this made him admired by so many! Over the years we definitely had our differences and opinions about each other, we even used to joke about how we’d get on each others nerves but differences aside he never lost site of the bigger picture…The kids of our community! In 2017 he learned of a family that unexpectedly lost their dad. He called me to ask my help in having a community gathering honoring the family and after selling concessions food him and I donated, the family was presented with a sizable amount of money to help support them through the difficult time! These are a few pictures taken that day and all the people who came together at his request! This is just one example of many of his heart and compassion! His influence in the community is unmatched, well respected and will never be forgotten! He was my son’s and many others basketball coach, a football coach to many, our community’s mentor, a leader of our youth and his light will shine through so many for many years to come!! REST EASY COACH CHRIS! You will be missed!!

I never knew Chris, as I came to Whitewater a couple years after his time, but heard many good things. It doesn't feel right...

I won't be able to make it back to town for your memorial service at East because I'll be at my sister’s wedding. I know you would understand and wish her the best. I loved you like a brother and admired the level of support you provided to all students and families in our Eastside community. No one can replace that! I pray you continue to look down on us; we will never forget you. Peace and Love, Jeremy Thornton
