Obituary

MADISON - David J. Golueke, age 74, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2024, at UW Health East Madison Hospital. He was born on Feb. 28, 1950, the son of William J. and Virginia (Titus) Golueke.


David graduated from Premontre High School in Green Bay in 1968 and received a degree in mechanical engineering from UW-Madison. Dave was employed as a mechanical engineer for many companies over the years and then worked for Bancroft Dairy for several years until they closed. He returned to school, studying IT, and started a new career with TDS until his recent retirement in 2024, after over 15 years. Always thirsty for knowledge, Dave would take classes at the University or continue his learning from the library on different topics.


Dave was fanatical about cars and had a gift for fixing and maintaining them. He was knowledgeable about many different makes and models and was always interested in learning more. His lifelong passion was collectors’ cars and he loved adding them to his vast collection.  Dave also took great pride in his yard and enjoyed working outside.


David is survived by his brothers, William C. Golueke and Daniel (Donna) Golueke; sister, Kathleen (Sergio Heredia) Golueke Heredia; nephews, Eric (Jennifer) Golueke, Matthew (Joey) Golueke and Sergio W. Heredia; nieces, Lori (Nate) Villarreal and Kristina (David) Walsh; 10 great-nieces and nephews; and many good friends over the years that have meant a lot to Dave. He was preceded in death by his parents.

I used to work with Dave at TDS and he was one of the most hard workers on the team. While he was a private person his presence will be missed. He often spoke of his passion for the fruit trees in his yard. My sincere condolences to the family.

Dave, my brother in law; was always studying, researching and finding answers to his inquisitive mind. He loved his family and attended family celebrations; always helping when he was able to solve or "fix things" especially related to cars! He will be sorely missed by all of us who knew his selfless and generous disposition all the time. Never a goodbye, it's just a "so long" Dave.
