Obituary
MADISON - Robert Wayne Michaelis, age 53, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at home. He was born on April 23, 1971, in Madison, the son of Marie Swenson and Scott Michaelis.
Robert graduated from Madison East High School in 1989 and from UW-Madison with a B.A. in political science in 1999. He served in the U.S. Army as a Cavalry Scout HHC 4/12 Infantry Battalion from 1991 to 1994. Robert enjoyed painting, molding clay, listening to music and collecting globes.
Robert is survived by his mother and stepfather, Marie (Vogt) and Craig Swenson; dog, Matson; sister, Christine Michaelis; and father, Scott Michaelis. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Rodney A. Michaelis in 2016; all of his grandparents; and some aunts and uncles.
A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024.
