Obituary
OREGON - Karen Ann Ladell, age 80, of Oregon, passed away on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at home. She was born on May 24, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Angus and Violet (Ringhand) Owen. Karen was a graduate of Oregon High School.
On Sept. 28, 1963, Karen married Larry Ladell in Oregon, Wis. She enjoyed being a wife, mother and homemaker for 60 years, raising her three children and caring for her only grandson. Along the way she also worked part-time at Lands’ End, Hahn’s Christmas Tree Farm, and the Dane County Alliant Energy Center. Karen also served as the Worthy Matron of the Oregon Eastern Star.
Karen enjoyed crafts, family picnics, her “Mooses,” rides in “Big Red,” visits to the “Duck Pond,” as well as time spent at her family cabin in northern Wisconsin, nature, and anything and everything surrounding horses. But above all, spending time with family meant the most to her.
Karen is survived by her husband, Larry; son, Quentin (Margaret) Ladell, daughter, Rebecca (Jason) Brunner; son, Shad (Katie) Ladell and grandson, Logan Ladell; sister, Janice Rodenschmidt; brother, David Owen; and sister-in-law, Caryle Outhouse. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother-in-law, William Rodenschmidt.
A funeral service will be held at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 E. Netherwood St., Oregon, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, with Pastor Ellen Stelzle presiding, It will be followed by burial at Prairie Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
