Julie Jean Sutter

MOUNT HOREB - Julie Jean Sutter, age 84, of Mount Horeb, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Inglehaven Assisted Living. She was born on June 28, 1941, in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Maxwell and Julianna (Miller) Bertschi.

Julie graduated from Dallas City High School in Dallas City, Ill., and went on to Michael Reese School of Nursing in Chicago where she received her Nursing degree. She met Duane Herman Sutter during college, and they were married on September 7, 1963. They moved to Mount Horeb in 1964, where Duane “Doc” worked in Optometry for 34 years. Julie worked as a Registered Nurse for Dodgeville General Hospital for many years and was later employed at Ingleside Nursing Home, retiring in the late 1970s.

Julie, lovingly known as “Ahma,” adored being a mother, and always supported her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time at the cabin, visiting Arizona, reading, cross-stitching, holiday parties, seeing college friends, and watching sports, TV and movies. She always treated friends as family and had an incredible community because of it.

Julie is survived by her dedicated husband, Duane; son, Michael (Kristine) Sutter; daughter, Rebecca (Brian) Beauchamp; grandchildren, Sadie and Emma Sutter and Mally and Ashlee Beauchamp; beloved sisters, Beverly (Gerry) Falbo, Cathy Collins, Cherrill (Paul) Melcon and Jen (Terry) Miller; and many loving extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maxwell and Julianna Bertschi; and brother-in-law, Gary Collins.

A celebration of life will be held at BLANCHARD HALL, 204 S. Main St., Blanchardville, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025.
