Obituary

MADISON - Robert C. “Bob” Sommerfeldt, age 76, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, at St. Mary's Hospital with his loving husband at his side. He was born on April 11, 1948, in Janesville, Wis., the son of Duane and Elizabeth (Stewart) Sommerfeldt.


Bob graduated from Milton Union High School in 1966. He served in the United States Army, entering in 1968 until his honorable discharge in 1974. He married Patrick Brenz on Aug. 2, 2017, in Madison.


Bob worked in pre-press printing for Web Crafters retiring in 2012. He was a member of the Monona Monday Morning Quilters and enjoyed genealogy and gardening.


Bob is survived by his husband, Patrick Brenz; brothers, Ken (Kristi) Sommerfeldt and Ray Sommerfeldt; sister, Karen Sommerfeldt; and special friends, Fran Duran, Betty Brikowski and Ellen Fehring. He was preceded in death by his parents.


Bob’s family would like to extend a special thank you to SSM Hospice and specifically his nurse, Lauren for all the kind and compassionate care they gave him.

Bob and I sat at the same table at our quilting group. He was kind and funny and always volunteered to help when a tall person was needed to help display a quilt. He did lots and lots of comfort quilts for Linus and other groups that distribute to those in need. He was a good friend and I will miss him a great deal.
