Obituary

VERONA - Casey Eugene Peterson, age 35, of Verona, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024. He was born on Aug. 17, 1989, in Madison, the son of Keith and Nancy (Kiolbasa) Peterson.


Casey graduated from high school in 2007. He went on to receive his associate’s degree from MATC with an automotive technician degree in 2009. He worked for his father's company, Peterson Home Improvement, since he was 8 years old. Casey was an electrician for several years as well as an automotive technician in the Madison area.


Casey was very handy and enjoyed working on cars. He was very active and loved being outdoors, taking on all the challenges that the outdoors provided, with hiking and kayaking being some of his favorites. He earned his black belt in karate through many years of dedication. His most recent accomplishment was hiking The Incline in Manitou Springs, Colo., a few months ago. He and his nephew, Owen, hiked 2,744 steps to the top, climbing 2,000 feet in elevation in under one mile. He loved watching movies and had a knack for remembering movie quotes, often showcasing his infectious sense of humor. Bill Murray and Adam Sandler were some of his most quoted actors. Live music and comedy shows were some of his favorite events to attend. Spending time with his family was something that brought him much joy; every day was an adventure with Casey.


Casey is survived by his parents, Keith and Nancy Peterson; brother, Ryan (Brie) Peterson; sister, Ashley (Joel) Ernzen; paternal grandfather, Donald Peterson; two nieces and one nephew, Kalise, Owen, and Hailee; significant other, Jennifer Moon; and his four-legged bestie, Gabby.


He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Lorraine Peterson; and maternal grandparents, Eugene and Sharon Kiolbasa.


A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024.

Casey was one of a kind. Always good for a laugh and a smile. He was one of the few people I’ve ever met that had an ability to connect with almost everyone he came into contact. His gift made the world around him brighter and that light will surely be missed. Gone but never forgotten.
