COTTAGE GROVE - Jean Lydia Gitzlaff, age 99, of Cottage Grove, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Drumlin Reserve. She was born on July 28, 1925, in Kenosha, Wis., the daughter of Charles and Lydia (Schultz) Morgan.

Jean married Wesley Gitzlaff on June 20, 1942, in Kenosha, Wis., and they were married for 70 years. She was a homemaker, providing a loving environment for her children.

Jean enjoyed dancing polka with her husband and loved the time she spent with her family. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and was an avid reader. Jean was an excellent crocheter and knitter, and she loved to craft. She crocheted hundreds of baby hats for Kenosha Hospital and was also a member of the Kenosha Senior Center.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Dick) White; son, Keith (Melody) Gitzlaff; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; son, Dean; parents, Lydia and Charles; and five siblings.

A funeral service will be held at MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5202 Cottage Grove Road, Madison, at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2025, with Pastor Dan O'Brien presiding.
