Obituary
OREGON - Robert Eugene Ladwig, age 77, of Oregon, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, at SSM Hospice Home. He was born on Oct. 10, 1946, in Columbus, Wis. the son of George and Winifred (Kirley) Ladwig.
Robert graduated from Fall River High School in 1964. He worked for the U.S. Post Office in Madison from 1965 until 2002, when he retired. He proudly served his country as a member of the Wisconsin National Guard for six years, 1961-1967. On Oct. 14, 1972, Robert and his late wife, Cheryl, were married in Madison. Together they had a son and two daughters. Robert enjoyed coaching his son’s soccer and baseball teams, as well as serving as a soccer referee.
In addition to working for the Post Office, Robert enjoyed being a WAA referee. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, soccer, watching any and all sports on TV, bowling, going to the casino twice each week and taking yearly trips to Canada. But even more than that, he loved being with his kids, grandkids, and great-grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his children, Lyn Schmidt, Bobbi (David) Trolinger and Brandon Ladwig (Jessica Wiles); grandchildren, Page Copus, Jonathan Pouzar, Leyla Pouzar, Cameron Schmidt, Lauren Kelly and Lynsey Crary; sisters, Georgia (Vince) Fitzgerald, Joyce (Augie) List and Julie (Blyan) Van Camp; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cheryl Ladwig; brothers, Alen Ladwig and Neil Ladwig; sister, Carol Thran; and nephews, Scott Fitzgerald and Gene Van Camp.
A funeral service will be held at Gunderson Oregon Funeral and Cremation Care, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, with a luncheon to follow. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday. A private family burial will be held at Storytown Cemetery at a later date.
