Obituary

MADISON - Jon E. Dettwiler, age 58, of Madison, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024. He was born on Sept. 28, 1965, in Madison, the son of Nathan and Thrina (Hammit) Dettwiler.

Jon was deeply devoted to his faith and the Lord. His commitment to his spiritual life was evident through his active involvement with the Chapel Valley Church, where he assisted with their sound system.

Jon's passion for electronics was not just a hobby, but a reflection of his intelligent and inquisitive nature. He found joy in the complexity of "tinkering" with electronic gadgets, inventing new devices and built several guitars. This pursuit of knowledge and mastery was not just for personal satisfaction, but also a testament to his persistent spirit and the delight he took in facing challenges head-on.

Jon is survived by his mother Thrina; brother, Ronald (Shelly) Dettwiler; and niece, Maya Dettwiler. He was preceded in death by his father, Nathan.

A Celebration of Life will be held at CHAPEL VALLEY CHURCH, 3102 Prairie Road, Madison on at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024. A time to visit with the family will be held at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.

So saddened and shocked to hear of neighbor John’s passing. He was an incredible kind, caring, hard working individual. John was willing to help anyone and everyone. There’s a lot of people in the neighborhood that are going to miss him. Terribly sorry for your loss.

I was one of the lucky neighbors that had Jon do my snowblowing. I actually gave him my snowblower that i could not use anymore. He was so happy! I moved away the year he gave up most of the snow removal. He was such a friendly and kind man! He will be missed by all. Rest in Peace Jon!
