We had just built our house down the street from the Schmelzer's and John stopped by to introduce himself. Little did we know that he would spend many an evening helping us turn our unfinished basement into wonderful living quarters. I had absolutely no carpentry skills back in the day and John would patiently walk me through each step as he helped me complete the myriad of steps. I remember being a little sloppy with the drywalling step of completing a hallway and John actually said “Sometimes ‘Good Enough’ isn’t good enough,” so do it right. Needless to say I tore the whole thing down to the studs and started over again. John has been an amazing blessing in our lives and we will be forever grateful. Maggie and the entire Schmelzer family, our most sincerest condolences. Rick and Nancy Dow
