Obituary

FITCHBURG - Keith Benjamin Skoug, age 81, of Fitchburg, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024. He was born on August 14, 1942, in Eau Claire, Wis., the son of Harvey and Sophie (Hanson) Skoug.


Keith graduated from Eau Clarie Memorial High School in 1960. He was united in marriage to Donna Dirienzo on April 17, 1971, in Madison, Wis. Keith served in the U.S. Air Force from February 16, 1961, until his honorable discharge on February 15, 1965, and was proud of his Badger Honor Flight trip in May of 2024 with his daughter. He worked as an optician in the Madison area for over 40 years, retiring in 2009, and volunteered his services on a mission trip to Nicaragua fitting people for glasses. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.


Keith was very proud of being 100% Norwegian. He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader when his sons were involved. He played baseball as a child and enjoyed watching and cheering on the Brewers, Packers and Badgers. He worked Badgers football Saturdays at his wife's grandmother's restaurant, Josie's Spaghetti House, parking cars and serving food.


Keith is survived by his wife, Donna; sons, Phillip (Cheryl) Skoug and Brett (Sherry) Skoug; daughter, Kristin (Tyler) Mani; six grandchildren, Jeff (Savannah) Skoug, Sara (Dalton) Masker, Ryan Skoug, Olivia Mani, Tanner Mani and Nolan Mani; great-grandchild, Romy Skoug; sister, Sandi (Larry) Staves; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joanne Fimreite; brothers, Larry and Stanley Skoug; and granddaughter, Josephine Skoug.


A memorial service will be held at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5701 Raymond Road, Madison, at 12 noon on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024, with the Rev. Sheryl Erickson presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.

I am so sorry to hear of Keith's passing. Vern & Dorla Wagner family all grew up at Josies, working along side Donna. In 4th grade I had to get glasses & I wanted wire rims & Dorla was thinking "Hippie" so Keith said "she won't wear them if she doesn't like them". I got them!!! I loved giving Keith some BS and he loved giving it back. We worked many years together Donna. We all were so blessed to be part of the Josie's family. Your family is in my prayers. Tara Wagner
