MOUNT HOREB - Rebecca Josephine Zwettler, age 82, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Heritage Middleton.
Rebecca was born on July 23, 1943, the daughter of Robert and Janett (Bahr) Zwettler, in Detroit, Mich. The Zwettler family moved to California where she and her older brother, Michael, grew up. Rebecca never stopped loving California.
Rebecca graduated from college, putting herself through school, and moved to San Francisco to begin working for the Pacific Telephone Company as a manager. When the opportunity came for early retirement with benefits, she moved to Mount Horeb to be closer to her father and other relatives. Rebecca then began working for AARP and also did volunteer driving, taking elderly individuals to appointments.
Rebecca found peace in her faith and was a devoted Catholic. She had many friends and family that traveled together on ski trips or out sightseeing. She loved entertaining, laughing and joking. She had a special love of her cats and 50’s classic music. She brought joy to others.
Rebecca is survived by her cousins, Steve Zwettler and Sue Sprague; and many other loving family members - Rebecca was one of 74 Zwettler first cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Janett Zwettler; father, Robert (Dahlyce) Zwettler; stepmother, Dahlyce Zwettler; brother, Michael Zwettler; 10 aunts and uncles; and many other family members. She will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at HOLY WISDOM MONASTERY, 4200 County Road M, Middleton, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, with Chaplain Steve Zwettler presiding. Visitation will be held at the monastery from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. A reception will follow the memorial service at the monastery.
