Obituary
MADISON - Peter T. Noll, age 71, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. He was born on June 30, 1953, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of David and Eva "Joyce" (Tappen) Noll.
Peter graduated high school from Holy Name Seminary in 1971 and then went on to study philosophy at UW-Madison, graduating in 1975. He worked as a software developer for the State of Wisconsin in various departments, retiring in 2015.
He was a MENSA member who also enjoyed a wide variety of things. He loved photography, especially using his father’s antique Rolleiflex camera. He was a fan of all kinds of music - all genres, including symphonies, opera, folk and folk/rock. He loved train travel anywhere in the country, and he enjoyed nature (Devil’s Lake State Park was a favorite haunt). He went to Milwaukee Brewers games often, both home and away. He loved visiting national parks - he made a pilgrimage to Glacier National Park almost every year, and Yellowstone was also a favorite. He went deer hunting every fall (more for the camaraderie than the hunting). He enjoyed family gatherings (especially occasions with CAKE!). He was an astronomy nerd, and he kept up on any new science discoveries. He was a movie buff (he had lots of favorites, but The Lord of the Rings and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy series especially). He played acoustic guitar, mostly folk style, playing at Noll family gatherings over the years.
Peter is survived by nine siblings, Tracy (Vicki) Noll, Tim (Janice) Noll, Christine (Paul) Seitz, David "Tony" (Cheryll) Noll, Sarah (Russell Landers) Noll, Amy (Khalid Mouaouya) Noll, Monica Skarha, Marcy (Art) Tessmann and Jessica (Casey) MacGill; brother-in-law, Dave Calhoon; special niece, Madeleine Baillie; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Laurie Noll.
