Obituary

MCFARLAND - Susan J. Schaefer, age 70, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on May 24, 1954, in Beloit, Wis., the daughter of Clifford and Rosemary (Birchman) Jackson.

On Aug. 8, 1981, she married Robert “Bob” Schaefer in Madison. She enjoyed her years as a homemaker / stay at home mom. She and her sister, Judy, started cleaning houses and later visiting with the elderly.

Susan loved flower gardening, spending time with her grandchildren and fur-grandchildren, as well as word search puzzles, coloring, reading books and magazines, tackling Lego sets, decorating for all holidays especially Christmas and cooking at Thanksgiving. She was a great listener always smiling and joking, who delighted at sitting around the campfire laughing and telling stories. She always looked forward to travelling and loved buying additions to her collection of salt and pepper shakers.

Sue is my middle school and high school memories. The best Maid of Honor ever. Many memories are just between Suzy Q and myself We are the only 2 that laugh at wet fire hydrant, shoehorn and car - run. Sue and I even wrote a song together. It was pretty bad to be honest. There is a big part of my heart that is broken but I will fill it with loving memories that will bring Sue home

My best memories of Sue are living together with her and Judy on Monona Dr she was our mother hen who watched over her flock. She was the kindest person I've ever met, and would help you with anything you needed. I introduced her to her wonderful husband Bob. She was my maid of honor in my wedding, and I in hers. I Loved her and will dearly miss her. I'm glad you are out of pain my friend.
