Obituary
MADISON - Teresa Edith “Teri” (nee Studee) Mowery, age 72, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, in her hometown of Madison, Wis., following lifelong health struggles. The daughter of Stephen A. and Marian E. (Platteter) Studee, Teri was born on June 25, 1952. She was a 1970 graduate of La Follette High School. After high school, she was employed at Wisconsin Physician Services (WPS) where she worked for approximately 30 years. Teri married Paul Mowery on October 18, 2008. With their beloved cats, they enjoyed the life they built together in their home in Marshall, Wis., until Paul's passing on May 18, 2023.
Teri was an avid animal lover with a special fondness for cats and horses. Some of her favorite memories from her teenage years were caring for and riding her horse, Duchess. Teri enjoyed traveling but was, unfortunately, limited by her health issues. Despite this, she did get an opportunity to travel to England and Scotland with her mother and niece, Suzie. She cherished the memories from this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Later in life, Teri found joy in crocheting, doing jigsaw puzzles, and visits from friends and family.
Teri is survived by her stepdaughter, Angie (Jordan Keewin) Mowery; stepson, Mike Mowery; and grandchildren, Parker, Logan and Silas. She is also survived by her brothers, Stephen (Toni) Studee and Thomas (Marlene) Studee; and sister, Barbara Hurd; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; and parents, Stephen and Marian Studee.
Friends, family and loved ones are invited to celebrate Teri's life at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, on Friday, June 20, 2025. The visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment will take place at HIGHLAND MEMORY GARDENS, 3054 County Road BB, Cottage Grove, at 2 p.m. on Friday.
A special note of gratitude goes to the staff at Oak Park Place who cared for Teri with patience and kindness for the past two years. Their compassion made a significant difference during her final days. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
