Ralph Edward Lathrop

STOUGHTON - Ralph Edward Lathrop, age 81, of Stoughton, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, at his home. He was born on May 28, 1943, in Stoughton, Wis., the son of Norbert and Catherine (Hardwick) Lathrop.

Ralph graduated from Stoughton High School in 1961 and went on to study Bee Keeping and Agriculture through the UW Extension. He married Bonnie (Baumann) Lathrop on July 17, 1965, at Faith Baptist Church in Monona, Wis.

Prior to retirement, Ralph worked as a machinist at Madison Newspapers, Inc. He was a charter member of Stoughton Baptist Church. Ralph enjoyed tinkering with things around the farm, especially fixing old engines; he also liked growing organic gardens.

Ralph is survived by his sons, Winston (Catherine) Lathrop and John (Bridget) Lathrop; daughter, Ann (Chris) Hardin; 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Jewell and Linda (Daryl) Schneider; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Rae Lathrop; parents; and brothers, Leroy Lathrop and Carl Lathrop.

A funeral service will be held at STOUGHTON BAPTIST CHURCH, 125 County Road B, Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Saturday July 20, 2024, with Rev. Mark Weiss presiding. Burial will be held at Cooksville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
