Obituary
MADISON - Gerald Norman “Jerry” Larsen, age 84, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on August 3, 1939, in Madison, the son of Lavern "Bud" Larsen and Rosemary (Dahl) Herheim.
Jerry attended East High School and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was united in marriage to Mary Overland on June 13, 1987, in Madison. Jerry was employed as the UW-Madison’s grounds and greenhouse keeper for 33 years, retiring at age 60. He also worked with Mary in the shipping department at the Wisconsin Cheeseman seasonally for 10 years.
Jerry enjoyed traveling, camping and visiting casinos. He and Mary’s favorite hangout was at the Sundown Saloon. He loved to sing karaoke, and everyone loved listening to him sing.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary; two stepdaughters, Lisa (Mark) Teggatz and their children, Anya and Lyla; Heidi (Eliott) Sarnow and their children, Cienna and Chase; half siblings, Lorraine, Lee and Lynn; and uncle, Dick (Rosie) Larsen. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary and stepfather, Wayne Herheim; and father, Laverne "Bud" and stepmother, Lucille Larsen; brother, Dennis Larsen; son, Dwayne Larsen; and step grandson, Liam Teggatz.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION Care, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2024, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
Jerry was loved by many. I will love and miss him so much and he will be in my heart always. Love you always sweetheart. Your wife, Mary.
