EVANSVILLE - Geraldine Ann “Geri” Breezer, age 77, of Evansville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Rock Haven. She was born on May 17, 1947, in Madison, the daughter of Gerald and Ann (Schulze) Wiese. After Gerald’s untimely death prior to Geri’s birth, Ann raised Geri on her own until she married Arthur Verden. Art treated Geri as his own and was the only dad she ever knew.
Geri graduated from Madison West High School in 1965 and received her bachelor’s degree in education from Edgewood College in 1969. She married Donovan Breezer on June 26, 1976, at St. Joseph Chapel at Edgewood College. Geri dedicated her life to educating young children in the Evansville School District for her entire teaching career and retired in 2004.
Geri loved spending time up north during the summers at the family’s cottage home, first in Minocqua and later in Wisconsin Dells, taking golf cart rides around the property, and entertaining family and friends who visited. She enjoyed baking, cooking, looking through recipes and spending time with her family, especially attending her grandson’s sporting events, theatre productions and activities.
Geri is survived by her husband, Donovan; their sons, Brian (Jessica) Breezer of Janesville and Chad Breezer of Evansville; grandsons, Brayton and Graham; sister, Dianna (Robert) Wachter, sister-in-law, Mary-Carel Verden; brothers-in-law, Richard (Cheryl) Breezer and Kenny (Shelley) Breezer; and special life-long friend, JoAnn Grovesteen. She is further survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald, Ann and Art; as well as her brother, Henry.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison, at 12 noon on Friday, July 26, 2024. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Friday.
