Vernon Walter Steinbach

December 12, 1936 - July 05, 2024

Obituary

LODI - Vernon Walter Steinbach, age 87, went to be with the Lord on July 5, 2024, at his home with family.

He was born on December 12, 1936, in Lynn, WI, the son of Walter and Gladys (Jensen) Steinbach. He married Judith on October 11, 1974.

Vernon proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge on November 6, 1962. He worked at a couple local welding factories until his retirement from Stainless Tank and Equipment at the age of 62. A year into his retirement, his wife got him a job at Kwik Trip in Lodi. He spent 15 years employed with Kwik Trip when he decided to retire for the second time.

No matter where he lived, he enjoyed helping his community by either being a volunteer fire fighter, helping the police catch an escaped criminal, or neighborhood snow removal until his passing. When he wasn’t working or volunteering, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife, sitting on the bank while she was fishing, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His interest consists of reminiscing about his past, spending time with his son working on cars, having the newest electronic device, and listening to his scanner.

Vernon is survived by four sons, Timothy (Cheryl) Steinbach, Ed Steinbach, Phillip “Bucky” (Tatyana) Steinbach, and Jonathan (Patty) Steinbach; three stepdaughters, Debi Donovan, Lois (Scott) Paepke, and Julie (John) Shockley; his siblings, Janet Zager and James Steinbach; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; other relatives, and friends.

In addition to Judith, his beloved wife, he is preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Phillip “Chucky” Steinbach and Gerald Steinbach; other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Vernon’s life will be held from 1 pm until 5 pm on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the home of his son Jonathan, W9646 Richards Road, Lodi, WI.

The family would like to thank his registered nurses, Kate and Wendi, with St. Mary’s Hospital (SSM) for the compassionate care they provided during his last few days of his life.
