Michael we love you. I will miss learning from you, whether about a new music group or film or some special trick in the kitchen. I am grateful for the gift of knowing you, and for so many remarkable (often divine) meals seeped in love and care over decades of my life. I am especially grateful for all you did to help me build lasting memories, that nourish me still, with my beloved cousins. In all these gifts a gentle and selfless caring has been imparted, which I will treasure always.
Anne, Nic & family, Charlie, Sam — we love you madly and are so sorry for this sadness

Michael was my big brother. We shared a lot growing up. Yes, he was a child of the 50's. Way before his time in so many ways. He was someone I looked up to. His influence on my life was huge. His love for photography, love for cooking, the arts and nature.
He is described as quiet and kind. And yes, a rebellious hippy. He was my brother, and I admired him so. When he had his first job, and started earning money, he bought us all amazing Christmas gifts. I received a gold necklace watch, (which I will be wearing on August 31, when we will be honoring his life). He didn't stop there; I also received an orange sweater and a skirt. I was one happy 10-year-old.
He was 8 years my senior. Yes, there was plenty of teasing going on, but the love was always there. In our 20's & 30's we had cookouts, family gatherings. I was the only sibling that didn't live with him on the east side of Milwaukee. Kind yes! When I bought my first home, he made me a kitchen cabinet, which I also have to this day. Our father was a carpenter and passed on that love for wood to his son's.
He and Anne invited me to their home and cooked the most delicious meals for me. Always inviting me into his growing family. Watching his kids grow was a wonderful delight.
I moved to Florida in the 90's and the distance separated us. He didn't like Florida! He did visit several times. We grew apart.
I missed him so much.
More recently, his disease took a hold of him, and he was weary, and is now at rest.
Anne, Nic, Charlie & Sam... My heart goes out to you. Let your precious memories comfort you. He is at peace.
