MARSHALL - John Michael Mackey, age 62, of Marshall, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024. He was born on Oct. 3, 1961, at Tyndall Air Force Base in Fla., the son of John and Joanne (Ladd) Mackey.
John attended Madison East High School and continued his studies at MATC. He was a flooring installer for numerous years. He loved to work with his hands, designing beautiful creations and building computers. John’s mind was always going, thinking about different ways to fix things.
John’s grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He selflessly spent the past 20 years caring for his mother, Joanne, before she passed away. No matter what, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. John was a very likable person, he got along with everyone he met. He had silent strength.
John is survived by his daughter, Nicole (Antonio) Luna; son, Joseph Mackey; three grandchildren, Elias Ramos, Yaretzi Luna and Nikolas Luna; sisters, Sharon Liddicoat and Michelle (Bradley) Klock; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Joanne; and brother, Eugene Mackey.
